How to Request Aid
Students are encouraged to meet with their financial aid counselor when considering study abroad to gain an understanding of aid options available. Once registered for study abroad, students must schedule an appointment with their financial aid counselor at least 60 days prior to their departure date, or UMBC’s semester start date, whichever is earlier.
At this appointment students must submit their Official Study Abroad Budget. In addition, if the program is requesting financial aid information, students must bring any relevant forms for completion. The counselor will provide information on the types of aid available, additional aid options, the timing of disbursement of aid, and how to pay the program.
If students do not meet with their financial aid counselor 60 days prior to the program start date, we cannot guarantee receipt of funds prior to departure.
