UMBC Faculty-Led
Short academic programs abroad with other UMBC students that are led by a UMBC faculty member where students take 1 or 2 UMBC courses (3-7 credits)

- UMBC program fee

UMBC Exchange
UMBC Students have the opportunity to study at a foreign university, and a student at that foreign university has the opportunity to study at UMBC
Payment:
- To UMBC: UMBC tuition and fees
- Not to UMBC: foreign institution room and board
Term:
- Academic Year, Fall, and Spring
Affiliated Partner
Non-UMBC institutions that offer education abroad experiences to students. The partner coordinates the enrollment process, accommodations, meal plans, and excursions
Payment:
- Program expenses set by and paid to the organization. These usually include tuition, accommodations, insurance, and activities
Term:
- Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter
ISEP Exchange
An exchange network of over 250 universities around the world. Placement is variable and applications are due much earlier than other programs. Please contact the Education Abroad Office if you are interested in ISEP.
Payment:
- UMBC Tuition and Fees, Housing, and Meal Plan (set at an ISEP rate) paid to UMBC
Term:
- Academic Year, Fall, Spring, and Summer
UMBC Approved Direct
Students apply to a foreign university directly and are responsible for enrolling in courses, housing, and the logistics of their program. Direct enrollment often offers less support than other programs.
Payment:
- All living expenses, foreign tuition, and housing payments are not paid to UMBC
Term:
- Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter
